Oregon’s Cape Kiwanda is a photographer’s dream destinations.
Everyone here at My Itchy Travel Feet—Alan, Nicole and me—are thinking of those affected by Hurricane Irma. The pictures out of the Caribbean are devastating and now we wait to see how Florida and the southeastern U.S. is impacted. In the meantime, during our escape from Montana wildfire smoke, Alan and I drove through the Columbia Gorge just as the fire there was blowing up. After a couple of days in Newport, Oregon, we’ve settled into a beach rental near Waldport. After six weeks of constant smoke, it’s a relief to breathe fresh air again.
Always Hungry update: This meal plan requires slow carbs at every meal, usually beans or low-sugar fruits like strawberries or blueberries that don’t cause a rapid blood sugar rise. While dining out, I accomplish that by ordering a small side of fruit or beans. And most restaurants have been very accommodating. I brought the measuring tape to keep up with progress. And I’ll be upping the exercise with long walks on the beach. Thanks for letting me stay accountable by reporting my progress here. If you have questions, send me an email.
